Plaridel, Bulacan – Operation Compassion Philippines (OCP), the Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church Bulacan and the Consuelo Zobel Foundation, successfully held an advocacy campaign on foster care and adoption at JIL Church Plaridel as part of its ongoing initiative, “Bring Your Mission Home – One Church, One Family, One Child.

The activity gathered 57 pastors, church leaders, and ministry heads from various JIL congregations across Bulacan, all aiming to mobilize faith-based communities to participate actively in addressing the country’s ongoing orphan crisis. The campaign forms part of OCP’s “Hearts in Action: Bringing Love Through Orphan Care” movement, which seeks to highlight the need for family-based care amid the growing number of children living in residential care institutions.

The event opened with registration, invocation, and a welcome message from the host church. This was followed by a presentation on the current state of orphan care in the Philippines, emphasizing the increasing number of children without permanent families and the importance of shifting toward home-based, long-term care solutions.

OCP then introduced its mission and the iFoster Program. In its introduction, OCP highlighted its commitment to expanding foster care and adoption initiatives within church communities. The advocacy message challenged participants to adopt the “One Church, One Family, One Child” approach, encouraging each congregation to support at least one family willing to care for a child in need.

Aside from this, a technical discussion on the processes, legal requirements, and procedures for foster care and adoption also provided participants with clear guidance on how families and churches can take practical steps to support child placement. The ensuing open forum enabled the attendees to raise questions, clarify their concerns, and explore other future roles within their ministries. The event concluded with a lunch fellowship that facilitated further networking and potential collaboration.

More importantly, the campaign has resulted in the heightened awareness of orphan care among church leaders, with several of them expressing interest in becoming foster parents or advocates themselves. The event also strengthened the partnership between OCP and JIL Bulacan, opening doors for future advocacy activities across the province.

Above all, the event reaffirmed the role of churches as key partners in promoting family-based care and supporting vulnerable children.

OCP will continue in its advocacy efforts to build strong networks of families, churches, and communities committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow within a loving and permanent family environment.
