Sendong, 2011

Operation Compassion played an important role in the aftermath of Typhoon Sendong, which struck Northern Mindanao—especially impacting Iligan and Cagayan de Oro—on December 16, 2011. Partnering with government agencies, the organization supported the relocation of internally displaced people (IDPs) to safer areas and provided critical aid through medical missions, feeding programs, and psychosocial interventions within the camps. In collaboration with faith-based organizations, Operation Compassion also established the KEDRN initiative, a disaster response network aimed at offering sustained support to affected communities.
